     Spring 2009

In January before the start of the spring semester, the Eta Chi Executive Council, along with other Pi Kappa Phi brothers from across the nation, gathered in St. Louis, MO for the annual Mid-Year Leadership Conference. During the conference, Pi Kapps attended several seminars focusing on how to best improve their chapters and continue to build better men.

Later in the semester, Eta Chi once again finished atop the academic rankings amongst fraternities with a cumulative 3.39 GPA, including 15 4.0's.

Summer 2008

Congratulations to the Eta Chi chapter for their strong showing at the 51st Supreme Chapter in Denver, Colorado. At this conference, with over 700 attendees, of more than 140 chapters, the TCU Eta Chi chapter received awards commending its programming and strong establishment on campus. These included highest GPA of any chapter, the Push Cup (for most fundraising, in excess of $25,000) and the Fogarty Award for best overall chapter in the nation.

Congratulations to Joe Brown for being named the 2007-08 Mountain West Conference Male Student-Athlete of the Year as a senior! A brother of Pi Kappa Phi at TCU, Joe won the men's javelin title at the 2008 MWC Outdoor Track and Field Championship and earning All-American honors with a 10th-place finish in the javelin at the 2008 NCAA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Thanks to all the members for their hard work this semester. Due to their academic diligence, Pi Kappa Phi was able to maintain the highest GPA (3.470) amongst all fraternities for the 16th consecutive semester. Congratulations!

Scholarship
Academic scholarship, being one of the four original purposes of a fraternity, is one of the chief focuses of the men of Pi Kappa Phi at TCU. With an average GPA of 3.390 in the spring of 2009, in addition to 15 4.0’s, the Eta Chi Chapter continually dominates not only the Greek community, but the campus as a whole in the arena of academic participation and success. From the very early days of one’s membership in the chapter, these ideals are instilled with programs ranging from library study hours, various forms of academic tutoring and coaching through our own personal professor advisor.

While many may have the stereotype that members of fraternities often let their studies go by the wayside, the men of Pi Kappa Phi strive to change this outlook. Through the help of a committee, the scholarship chairman will periodically check the academic progress of not only new members, but those who are active in the fraternity as well to make sure everyone is upholding the standards of our chapter. This system has proven to effectively offer accountability among members throughout their college years.

Our ability to provide the experiences of a social fraternity, lead in nearly every organization on campus, and provide service through our very own philanthropy all the while emphasizing the importance of academics and a college education has led Pi Kappa Phi at TCU to be named not only the best chapter on campus, but in the entire nation as well.

Intramurals
Pi Kappa Phi prides itself in its diverse aspects of Intramural participation. By winning the overall Intramual Championship in 2008 and the ever-important flag football championship in 2009, we proved our athletic prowess. However, we also strive to make it a fun experience, by forming a 'Letales' team, whose only goal is to purposefully provide entertainment to anyone who watches the events.

Brotherhood
Brotherhood is considered by many to be the most important part of our fraternity. As brothers of Pi Kappa Phi, we host events for our members ranging from tailgates before football games to Crawfish boils to Brotherhood retreats every semester. These provide an opportunity for all of us to relax and enjoy the company of these individuals with whom we share such a close bond.
